We need to strengthen our mining operations with competence and experience from primarily open pit mining operations and are now looking for a number of senior resources with long and solid experience from, among other things, mine planning and production. Experience from mining where subcontractors are part of the production chain is important as we have many partners in our mine.
We are looking for both specialists and generalists with experience from leading positions in open pit mining operations. You probably have a civil engineering degree with a focus on the mining industry and at least 10 years of production experience in opencast mining. Special skills and experience from green field projects and long-term planning are meritorious as we are facing expansion in new open pits in the coming years and need to optimize operations in current open pits.
We believe that you will have worked/are working in the mining industry - in Sweden or abroad. Through your long experience, you have had time to acquire experience from both a strategic and operational perpspective at a detailed level. The Position
As the responsible Strategic Mine Planner, you will lead the group in the department that works with mine planning and have the overall responsibility for all planning, both long and short-term, as well as drilling and blasting planning. The position is a key position for Kaunis Iron's future development and strategic work and involves close collaboration with the Company's management team.
You will play a main role in our work to develop mining alternatives for a long-term Life of Mine Plan. Your work will include quality assurance around the data and calculations that form the basis for our mineral reserve and associated reporting according to PERC (The Pan European Reserves and Resources Reporting Committee Code for Reporting of Exploration Results, Mineral Resources and Mineral Reserves).
An important part of the job will be to support, involve and share knowledge with your colleagues.
You will be part of the Planning Department team, which is responsible for the Company's short and long-term mining planning, surveying, geology and grade control. As with all mining-related work, this means that you will operate in an area under constant change that places high demands on safety and safety awareness. Our operations are conducted in the mining area in Kaunisvaara, which is where the position will be based. The position will report into the Mine Planning Manager.




Qualifications and Education
Experience of long-term mine planning, open pit optimization and open pit design is a requirement. You will have at least 5-8 years of experience within the mining industry.
We are looking for university graduates within mining or rock engineering. Having the ability to manage Microsoft Office programs, Deswik or other mining planning software is a must and other CAD programs, as well as Leapfrog, are an advantage.
